College Softball: AASU 17-18, Edward Waters 0-0
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The No. 11-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State softball team swept a doubleheader from Edward Waters College, 17-0 and 18-0, on Friday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla., to improve to a perfect 19-0 on the season.
Junior Julie King picked up victories in both games, giving up no hits to the Lady Tigers and improving to 6-0 on the season. Junior Tesh Wiewel collected hits in both games to extend her season-long hitting streak to 19 games, and also pitched two scoreless innings of relief in the second game. Junior Crystal Saccomanno hit her third home run of the season in the second game, and junior Kim Claborn hit her first collegiate home run in the second game as well. Edward Waters managed just two hits off of Lady Pirate pitching in the doublebeader.
AASU next travels to Laurinburg, N.C., to face St. Andrews in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday, March 12.
