College Softball: No. 11 AASU 16-4, UNC Pembroke 0-0

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 11-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State softball team swept a doubleheader from UNC Pembroke in its Peach Belt Athletic Conference debut, defeating the Lady Braves, 16-0 and 4-0.

In the first game, reigning PBAC Player of the Week Annie Sells hurled a perfect game as she set down all 15 UNC Pembroke batters in order, striking out 11. Tesh Wiewel went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and a home run in the first game as the Lady Pirates (15-0) pounded out 16 hits and 16 runs.

In the second game, Julie King fired a three-hit shutout, striking out eight, while Brea Smith drove in two runs on two hits, including a double. Wiewel had a hit, extending her hitting streak to 15 games this season.

AASU returns to action on Thursday, March 9, as they host Edinboro at 1 p.m.
