SAVANNAH, Ga. – John Steensland's three-point basket with one minute remaining propelled the No. 14 Georgia College & State Bobcats to a 70-68 Peach Belt Athletic Conference men's basketball victory over Armstrong Atlantic State on Sunday evening at Alumni Arena.

Steensland's 24-foot basket broke a 66-all tie, then his block of Robert Campbell's layup try with just two six seconds remaining gave the Bobcats (10-1, 1-0 PBAC) the victory. AASU (4-8, 1-1 PBAC) led by 14 points early in the second half, 50-36, but the Bobcats went on a 22-6 run over the next 10 minutes to take the lead, 58-56, at the 7:34 mark on Derrick Nicholson's three-point play. Junior Cyrille Mainnemarre led the Pirates with 19 points while Campbell chipped in 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

In women's action, the Lady Bobcats weathered an early AASU assault and held on for a 82-78 victory. The Lady Pirates (3-9, 0-2 PBAC) hit their first nine shots of the game and jumped out to a 20-14 lead, but the Bobcats (6-3, 1-0 PBAC) fought back to take a 47-36 lead into halftime.

Georgia C&SU stretched its lead to 14 points early in the second half, but the Lady Pirates tied things up with 4:35 remaining on Dorthell Little's jumper. Kamilah Moss answered with a layup that put the Lady Bobcats ahead to stay. Little set career highs with 25 points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Pirates, while freshman Duanda Ball chipped in 14 points. Four GC&SU players reached double figures, led by Moss and Betsy Foy's 17 points apiece.

Both the AASU men's and women's teams return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 5 as they travel to Florence, S.C., to take on the Francis Marion Patriots in PBAC play.
