SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State tennis teams split with Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon at the AASU Tennis Complex, with the men's tennis team taking a 5-4 win while the women's team fell to VSU, 6-3.

The No. 4-ranked AASU men's team followed up its win over No. 1-ranked Lander on Saturday with a close 5-4 win over No. 5 Valdosta State. The Pirates lost two of the three doubles matches, but responded with wins at four of six singles, including a win by junior Stefan Wirtz over previously undefeated Christophe Napp, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.

The No. 5-ranked AASU women's team lost to No. 11 Valdosta State, 6-3, snapping a six-match winning streak by the Lady Pirates. AASU dropped all three doubles matches and got wins from Stephanie Kovacic, Michaela Kratochvilova and Petra Schemm in singles.

The AASU tennis teams will make their yearly trip to Montgomery, Ala., for the Blue-Gray Classic beginning on Thursday, April 6, and will play matches through Saturday, April 8.
