Men's Tennis: Auburn-Montgomery 5, AASU 1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Host Auburn-Montgomery, the No. 2-ranked team in NAIA, defeated the No. 4-ranked Pirates in first round action of the Blue-Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala., on Thursday afternoon.

The Pirates (15-4) won just one doubles match - at No. 2 doubles - and could not get a singles win. Auburn-Montgomery clinched the match with wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. The doubles team of Aref Jallali and Frederic Heitz defeated Fernando Sedano and Stig Stroem, 8-2, for the Pirates' only point.

AASU continues action in the Blue-Gray classic when they take on the No. 1 team in NJCAA, Tyler JC of Texas, at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The match will be an exhibition as the NCAA does not recognize matches against two-year institutions in final records.
