SAVANNAH, Ga. The Armstrong Atlantic State baseball squad pounded out a season-high 23 hits, including three home runs, in a 19-2 win over California (Pa.) on Friday afternoon in 2007 Savannah Invitational action at Pirate Field.

The Pirates (15-9) trailed, 2-0, after the Vulcans (6-6) put up single runs in the first and second innings, but took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second, keyed by Joey Davis’ two-run home run to left. The offensive explosion was more than enough for Ross Partee (2-3), who picked up the win by hurling seven innings, giving up just five hits and two runs – one earned – while striking out two. Mike Ryan (0-1) took the loss for the Vulcans, giving up 10 hits and six runs – five earned – in 3 1/3 innings.
