Men's Basketball: Presbyterian 75, Armstrong Atlantic State 72
SAVANNAH, Ga. Presbyterian College used a 21-5 run in the second half to erase a 10-point Armstrong Atlantic State lead and come away with a 75-72 men's college basketball victory on Wednesday evening in Savannah.
Junior Bart Westgeest's reverse layup with 13:19 remaining in the second half gave the Pirates a 52-42 lead, but Presbyterian went on to hit its next five shots, highlighted by two Kevin Campbell three-pointers, en route to taking a 63-57 lead with 7:53 left. AASU fought back to get within one point in the final minute, but junior David Koncul's tying last-second three-pointer rimmed out, snapping the Pirates' three-game winning streak.
Koncul led all scorers with 26 points on the night 16 in the first half as AASU jumped out to a 35-32 lead at intermission, but Presbyterian hit 11 of 22 three-pointers on the game, including 7-of-12 in the second half, to make up the deficit. Senior Robert Campbell scored 10 points and recorded eight assists for AASU (4-3), while Chuck Rayford led Presbyterian (4-2) with 22 points while Andrew Dellinger added 16 points and Kevin Campbell scored 14 points for the Blue Hose.
The Pirates return to action on Saturday, Dec. 2 as they host cross-town rival Savannah State in a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Alumni Arena at the Armstrong Sports Center.
