MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior Cyrille Mainnemarre hit the tying basket with five seconds left in regulation, then had the first four points in overtime to lead the Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team to a 73-68 overtime win at Georgia College & State on Saturday evening.

The Pirates (14-5, 6-0 PBC) remained perfect in Peach Belt play and won their seventh straight while beating Georgia College & State (5-9, 1-4 PBC) for the first time since the 1997-98 season. The Bobcats held a 30-25 halftime lead and stretched the lead to 14 points, 58-45, with 6:33 remaining, but AASU went on a 12-2 run to cut the Bobcat lead to four. GC&SU led by five with 50 seconds left on Chris Nelson's jump shot but a three-pointer from sophomore Joel Lecoeuvre and a basket by Robert Campbell tied the game at 63-all with 25 seconds left. Josh Reid hit two free throws with 12 seconds left, setting up Mainnemarre for his late-game heroics.

Campbell led all scorers with 19 points while Mainnemarre added 14 points and Lecoeuvre recorded career highs for AASU with 12 points and four-of-five three-point shooting. Maurice Smith led GC&SU with 18 points while Nelson added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

In women's action, Georgia College & State forced 28 Armstrong Atlantic State turnovers and went 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the final minute to come away with a 75-64 victory over the Lady Pirates.

GC&SU (12-3, 3-2 PBC) led by four at halftime, 41-37, but the Lady Pirates (7-9, 2-4 PBC) came out of the second half and took the lead by one on a Michelle Hubbard three-pointer and a Lori Green basket, 42-41, but the Lady Bobcats would reassert control with a 17-4 run over the next eight minutes. Senior guard Michelle Hubbard led the Lady Pirates with 18 points, while Lexie Martin added 13 points. Sophomore Zandrique Cason was held to just five points – her lowest total of the season – but recorded a game-high 13 rebounds.

The AASU men's and women's basketball teams next travel to UNC Pembroke for a doubleheader against the Braves on Wed., January 24 at 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men).
