Men's Basketball: Armstrong Atlantic State 90, Savannah State 50

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Four players scored double figures as the Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates defeated cross-town rival Savannah State, 90-50, in men's college basketball action on Saturday evening at Alumni Arena.

Senior center Cyrille Mainnemarre led the Pirates with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor, while senior Tavares Brown and junior David Koncul chipped in 12 points for AASU (5-3). Senior guard Robert Campbell added 10 points, six assists and tied a career high with seven steals as the Pirates shot 61.8 percent from the floor in the victory. Savannah State (0-6) shot just 28.1 percent and was led by Maurice Belle's 11 points and Toyian Williams' 10 points.

The 40-point win was the largest margin of victory for coach Mills and the Pirates in eight years, since the Pirates defeated Lander University 112-45 on Feb. 8, 1992. The win also snapped a three-game winning streak in the series between the two schools and the Pirates increased their series lead in the cross-town rivalry to 16-13.

AASU returns to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 6 as they travel to Atlanta, Ga., to face Clark Atlanta at 6:00 p.m.
