SAVANNAH, Ga. – Five AASU players scored in double figures to help the Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team remain perfect in the Peach Belt and achieve a doubleheader sweep of Lander University on Saturday evening with a 67-62 victory.

The Pirates (10-5, 3-0 PBC) are 3-0 in the conference for the first time since the 1994-95 season in which AASU won its first 10 conference games. Seniors Robert Campbell and Cyrille Mainnemarre and junior Mick Jordan each led the Pirates in scoring with 11 points while Tavares Brown and Donta Humphries each chipped in 10 points. Campbell also recorded six assists and four steals on the evening. The Hinesville native's third steal of the night, a pick of Lander's Matt Smith with 6:37 remaining in the game, was his 300th steal of his career, making him only the third player in NCAA Division II history to reach that mark.

AASU trailed by as many as nine points in the second half as Lander led 44-35 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game but went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take back the lead. Senior Greg Favors notched a game-high 12 rebounds to go with nine points as the Pirates won their third straight game.

In women's action, the Lady Pirates held on for a 76-74 win over Lander, giving AASU back-to-back conference wins for the first time in nearly two years. Sophomore Zandrique Cason recorded her 11th double-double for the Lady Pirates (6-6, 2-1 PBC) with 19 points and 11 rebounds while senior Michelle Hubbard chipped in 11 points, including her 1,000th career point on a three-pointer with 4:55 remaining in the second half. Hubbard is one of only five AASU women's basketball players to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Junior Lexie Martin added 15 points and sophomore Marloes Renskers scored 11 points and added five assists and a career-high seven steals as AASU endured a record-setting free-throw performance from Lander's Krissy Hatfield, who went 15-of-17 from the charity stripe en route to her game-high 31 points.

The AASU women's basketball team returns to action on Monday, December 8 with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Nova Southeastern. The AASU men's team is next in action on Wednesday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. at cross-town rival Savannah State.
