SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team extended its school-record winning streak to 14 games, the second-best current win streak in NCAA Division II, with a 70-62 victory over Clayton College & State on Wednesday evening, earning a split in Peach Belt Conference doubleheader action.

The Pirates (21-5, 13-0 PBC) clinched a share of their second Peach Belt Conference championship with the victory as AASU has a three-game lead over Augusta State with three games left to play in the season. AASU shot 50 percent from the field in the victory while the Lakers (7-16, 4-9 PBC) hit just 2-of-15 three-pointers and turned the ball over 22 times.

Junior Mick Jordan, the PBC's leading three-point shooter, hit all four of his three-point tries en route to a team-high 14 points for AASU, while reigning PBC Player of the Week Robert Campbell recorded 13 points and six steals. Junior Greg Favors, the PBC's leading rebounder, grabbed 15 boards while Clayton College & State was led by Jerry Johnson's 18 points and Kareen Harris' 16 points.

In women's action, Clayton College & State hit 7-of-10 three-pointers in the first half to run up a 15-point lead at halftime, 36-21, and never looked back in picking up the 76-51 win over Armstrong Atlantic State.

The Lady Pirates (8-15, 3-10 PBC) shot just 28 percent from the floor before intermission and did not hit a free throw until the second half. Clayton College & State (5-18, 3-10 PBC) has now won two in a row after losing 18 of their first 21 games of the season.

Junior guard Lexie Martin again led the Pirates in scoring with 13 points, including 3-of-7 three-pointers, while freshman Nicole Joffrion hit 3-of-6 threes for nine points. Kandace Walker led four Lady Lakers in double figures with 15 points and Corinne Harris notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The AASU men's and women's basketball teams next travel to USC Spartanburg on Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
