Defense was the name of the game in the men’s contest as Clayton State (12-11, 8-8 PBC) forced a season-high 23 turnovers by the Pirates in the six-point win. The Lakers led by one, 33-32, at halftime and stretched built a six-point lead, 52-46, with 3:41 left in the second half. Senior Corey Johnson scored on back-to-back possessions, hitting a driving layup and then a three-pointer to cut the lead to just one, 52-51, with 3:04 left. On the next possession, Clayton State’s Ricky Garrett drilled a three-pointer, pushing the lead back to four and the Lakers would hold on for the win.
