The Lady Lakers (6-20, 4-12 PBC) sprinted out to a 33-24 lead at halftime, then stretched their lead to as many as 15 in the second half, but the Lady Pirates (10-16, 5-11 PBC) went on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to just one, 55-54, with 3:17 remaining. AASU could never get the lead, however, and Amber Wood's two free throws with 15 seconds left put CC&SU up by three and set the stages for the last-minute shot by Joffrion.
