Harriman Earns Canadian Baseball Player of the Week Honors
SAVANNAH, Ga. Senior catcher David Harriman of the No. 13-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State baseball team was named SLAM! Sports' Canadian Player of the Week on Thursday, given to the best amateur Canadian baseball player competing in the United States each week.
Harriman, one of over 500 current collegiate baseball players in the United States who hail from Canada, earned the award by hitting .750 (12-of-16) with two home runs and 13 RBI in the Pirates' four-game sweep of Tusculum College last weekend. The Surrey, British Columbia, native leads the undefeated (7-0) Pirates in hitting on the year with a .548 average.
SLAM! Sports, one of Canada's most popular sports internet sites (www.slam.ca), initiated the Canadian Baseball Player of the Week award in 2001.
Harriman and the rest of the No. 13-ranked Pirates open up their Peach Belt Conference season on Saturday, February 9 with a 2:00 p.m. game at Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.
