College Baseball: No. 9 AASU 8, Kutztown 4
SAVANNAH, Ga. The No. 9-ranked
Armstrong Atlantic state baseball squad scored eight runs over
the last two innings to come from behind and down No. 30-ranked
Kutztown, 8-4, in 2006 Savannah Invitational action at Pirate
Field on Saturday.
The Pirates (18-0-1) rang up their 18th straight win by collecting 14 hits against the Golden Bears (6-4). Marc Noble, Josh Dallas and Daniel Heflin each had three-hit days and drove in two runs apiece. With Kutztown leading, 4-0, the Pirates scored three times in the bottom of the seventh, then with two out in the eighth, they plated five runs to take an 8-4 lead.
Matt Nalutka (1-0) hurled 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief to become the 11th different pitcher on the Pirates' staff to pick up a win this season. Philip Rummel took the loss for Kutztown, hurling 1/3 of an inning and giving up four hits and four runs.
AASU returns to action on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. against Missouri Western State.
