FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3-2-06
College Baseball: No. 11 AASU 13, Claflin 3
SAVANNAH, Ga. Junior Marc Noble's four
hits paced a 16-hit attack as No. 11-ranked Armstrong Atlantic
downed Claflin, 13-3, in a non-conference baseball contest at
Pirate Field on Thursday.
The Pirates (12-0-1) also got three hits from Jarin Lewis in the victory, the 12th straight for AASU since a season-opening tie against Tusculum. Sophomore Aaron Johnson hurled two innings of one-run ball to pick up his first win as a Pirate.
Claflin (4-9) was led by Jaime Aimar, who collected two solo home runs on the afternoon. Stephen Mauricourt took the loss for the Panthers, going the distance in giving up all 17 hits and 13 runs in seven-plus innings of action. The game was halted in the eighth inning due to the mutually agreed 10-run rule. AASU returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. as the Pirates host Valdosta State at Pirate Field.
