College Baseball: No. 26 AASU 22, Barton 6

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 26-ranked Armstrong Atlantic baseball squad launched five home runs in blasting Barton College, 22-6, in a neutral-site contest at UNC Pembroke on Thursday evening.

Armstrong Atlantic (27-6-1) scored in every inning in downing the Barton Bulldogs (24-19) on Thursday. Truman Marek collected four hits and drove in three runs, including a two-run home run, while Brad Bohannon added a three-run shot and Josh Dallas collected a solo home run. In the eighth inning, two Pirates collected their first collegiate home runs as sophomore Joey Davis and freshman Mitch Hudson hit back-to-back solo home runs to close out the AASU scoring.

The offense made a winner out of the Pirates' Jacob Roberson (4-2), who threw five innings and gave up five hits and four runs while striking out five to pick up the win. Barton's Matt Wingo (1-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs, giving up eight runs - six earned - and five hits in three innings pitched. Will Walmsley led Barton at the plate with three hits and three RBI.

The Pirates return to action on Saturday, April 8, as AASU visits Francis Marion for a 3:00 p.m. contest in Florence, S.C.
