AASU Baseball Inks Two From Missouri

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Two pitchers from Jefferson College (Mo.) have signed national letters of intent to play baseball for Armstrong Atlantic State in the fall of 2000, head coach Joe Roberts announced today.

Adam Olejniczak, a 6-2, 195 pound righthander from Fayetteville, Ark., earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors for the Vikings in 2000. He recorded a 9-2 record with a 2.22 ERA in 76 innings, allowing just 62 hits and 22 walks while striking out 61 batters.

Ross Koenig, a 6-2, 175 pound righthander from Festus, Mo., was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 42nd round following his freshman year at Jefferson. This season he went 5-3 with a 2.37 ERA in 59 innings, allowing 52 hits and 22 walks while striking out 57 batters.

Both pitchers helped Jefferson College and head coach Dave Oster to a 33-22-1 record in 2000 and an NJCAA Regional berth.

AASU finished the 2000 season ranked No. 25 in the nation and compiled a 37-17 record, the 17th time in the last 20 seasons that the Pirates have won at least 35 games in a season.
