AASU's Campbell Earns NABC All-District Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior guard Robert Campbell has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) /Oldsmobile Division II South Atlantic District team, announced Monday evening by the NABC.

Campbell, who leads the Pirates in scoring with 15.2 points per game and leads the Peach Belt Athletic Conference in assists and steals, was one of four PBAC players to be named to the All-District squad. Campbell joins Earl Grant of Georgia College & State on the second team, while Lander's Geoff Brower and GC&SU's Julius Joseph earned first-team honors.

The honor is the first for an AASU basketball player under head coach Griff Mills, who assumed the reins of the Pirate basketball program during the 1991-92 season. Campbell, a second-team All-PBAC selection as a sophomore, is just three points shy of becoming just the 14th AASU player to score 1,000 for his career.

Voting for the NABC/Oldsmobile Division II All-District Teams was conducted by NABC-member coaches and 80 student-athletes overall were honored in eight districts. Players selected are now eligible for the NABC/Oldsmobile Division II All-America team.

Campbell and the Pirates face UNC Pembroke in the opening round of the PBAC Championships on Thursday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.
