Ehlers Named Edward Jones/AASU October Athlete of the Month
SAVANNAH, Ga. Freshman volleyball player Lindsay Ehlers has been named the Edward Jones Investments/AASU Blue Chip Athlete of the Month for the month of October by the Armstrong Atlantic State athletic department.
A 5-10 outside hitter from Boulder, Colo., Ehlers has helped the AASU volleyball squad to its best season in school history. The Pirates are currently 34-3 overall and 11-2 in the Peach Belt, due in large part to Ehlers' efforts. She leads the team in kills with 329 and is hitting .283 on the season. She is also one of only two players to rank in the Top 10 in the Peach Belt in kills per game and hitting percentage. She was named the PBAC Player of the Week for October 12 and has enjoyed some of her best games against conference opponents, recording 18 or more kills in four games versus PBAC foes.
Edward Jones Investments and the AASU Athletic Department have created the Blue Chip Athlete of the Month award to spotlight successful Pirate student-athletes monthly, during the academic year. AASU cross country runner Nikki Garland was the September honoree.
Ehlers and the AASU volleyball squad travel to No. 23-ranked North Florida for their final regular season match on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., then take part in the Peach Belt Athletic Conference tournament on Nov. 11-13 in Greenwood, S.C.
