AASU's Mick Jordan Wins 47th Annual Dearing Cup

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior Mick Jordan was presented today with the 47^th annual Dearing Cup, given by Ashley Dearing to the Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball player with the best free throw percentage, in a ceremony at the AASU Hall of Fame room.

Jordan, a 5-9 guard from Sarasota, Fla., and Cardinal Mooney HS, won this year's cup with a 86.5 free throw percentage. The former 3A Florida Player of the Year helped the Pirates to a school record-tying 25 wins this season and the Pirates' second-ever Peach Belt Conference title and second NCAA Championships berth in the last six seasons.

The award was established by Dearing, a recipient of the AASU Athletic Hall of Fame's Service Citation Award in 1995, in 1954 to emphasize the importance of the free throw.
