Men's College Basketball: AASU 70, Brewton Parker 47

SAVANNAH, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic jumped out to a 12-0 lead over visiting Brewton Parker and cruised to a 70-47 victory over the Barons in men’s college basketball action on Monday evening in Savannah. The Pirates improved to 4-0 with the victory, while the Barons fell to 3-7.

AASU opened the scoring with two Tory Harris three-pointers and seven points from senior Bryan Taylor, then kept the double-digit lead into halftime, 30-19. Brewton-Parker tried to keep it close behind the play of Warren Beulah, who led all scorers on the evening with 19 points, but a nine-point deficit with 15:31 left quickly ballooned to 18 as AASU embarked on a 11-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Harris led the Pirates with 18 points, rebounding from a tough 1-for-15 day from the floor on Saturday to hit 8-of-14 shots from the floor, including two three-pointers. Taylor added 11 points and Kevin Parker notched 10 points, while Patrick Sanou recorded a career-high 12 rebounds to go with six points and four assists.

The Pirates led from wire-to-wire in the contest, the first time that AASU has not trailed in a game this season.

AASU returns to action on Friday, December 1, as the Pirates face Catawba at 8:00 p.m. in the Walt Baker Classic in Salisbury, N.C.
