Fort Valley State Downs AASU, 66-60
FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Fort Valley State Wildcats knocked off the Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates, 66-60, in men's college basketball action at Woodward Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
Fort Valley State (1-2) opened the second half with a 16-8 run to overcome a one-point Armstrong Atlantic State (0-3) lead at halftime to pick up its first win of the season.
Junior Daryl Williams led the Pirates with 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Junior Brian Bain added 16 points and senior Dave Pisarcik chipped in 14 points. Fort Valley State's Darryl Williams led the Wildcats with 17 points, while senior Daniel Sullen added 14 points off the bench.
Sullen outscored the Pirate bench himself as AASU managed just two points from its non-starters - a layup by junior forward Scott Mattingly with 6:33 left in the first half.
The Pirates return home to take on defending PBC regular season champion Clayton State on Saturday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m., in AASU's home and conference opener.
