Men's College Basketball: AASU 85, Livingstone 83
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. The
Armstrong Atlantic State mens basketball team defeated
Livingstone, 85-83, in the R.L. Vaughan Invitational in Elizabeth
City, N.C., on Friday evening. The Pirates
improved to 7-1 on the season with the victory, continuing AASU's
best start since 1995-96.
Livingstone (1-5) led at halftime, 44-43, but the Pirates held a one-point lead in the closing seconds of the contest. Senior Brian Bain hit one of two free throws, and Livingstone could only get off a desperate three-pointer at the buzzer that fell off the mark.
Senior forward Daryl Williams led all scorers with 30 points, while Bain chipped in 25 points and senior Scott Mattingly added 11 points.
AASU will take on host Elizabeth City State in the final game of the Invitational at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.
