Men's Basketball: AASU 62, GCSU 53
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic shot 54.5 percent in the second half, erasing a three-point halftime deficit to win its fourth straight game with a 62-53 win over host GCSU on Wednesday evening in Milledgeville.
Both teams took a while to get heated up from the floor as the Pirates hit just five field goals in the first half, while GCSU hit just eight in taking a 22-19 lead into intermission.
In the second half, the Pirates went to Bryan Taylor as the senior center scored six straight points in a two-minute span to give AASU the lead, then Tory Harris took over, scoring 15 of his game-high 24 points to spark the victory. Harris hit 6-of-12 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 three-pointers, and also connected on 10-of-13 free throws on the night. Taylor added 15 points while William Kane chipped in 11, while GCSU was led by Aaron Clark's 18 points and Aaron Gibbs' 12 points.
The Pirates return to action on Saturday, February 10, as AASU hosts USC Upstate at 4:00 p.m. on Senior Day. AASU will honor seniors Bryan Taylor, Tory Harris and Darly Massamba in a post-game ceremony.
