Mens Tennis: No. 2 AASU 8, No. 15 Francis Marion 1
SAVANNAH, Ga. No.
2-ranked Armstrong Atlantic got back on the winning track with an
8-1 win over No. 15 Francis Marion in Peach Belt Conference men's
tennis action on Sunday in Savannah.
After Saturday's match was rained out with AASU leading Columbus
State, 4-0, the Pirates wasted little time against the Patriots
taking a 3-0 lead by sweeping all of the doubles matches.
AASU then won five of six singles matches to close out the
victory. Paul Bishop picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Chatwinder
Singh at No. 2 singles, while Robert Jendelund notched a
three-set win over David Budler at No. 3 singles. Taavo Roos,
David Secker and Kevin Sijmons also picked up singles wins.
The Pirates are next in action in Wednesday,
February 22, at PBC rival GC&SU for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
