PBC Men’s Tennis: No. 7 AASU 5, No. 32 USC Aiken 3 (First Round)

SUMTER, S.C. – The No. 7-ranked Armstrong Atlantic men's tennis team survived a scare in the first round as the Pirates knocked off USC Aiken, 5-3, in the first round of the 2006 Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championships in Sumter, S.C., on Thursday.

The Pirates (14-6) fell behind, 2-1, after doubles but rallied to win four singles matches to advance to Friday's semifinals against USC Upstate at 3:00 p.m. Davor Zink and Paul Bishop picked up straight-set singles wins, then Robert Jendelund and David Secker won three-set matches to help AASU
advance.

The top-seeded Pirates are the defending PBC tournament champions and will face USC Upstate for the second time this season - AASU edged USC Upstate, 5-4, back on March 4.
