PBC Men’s Tennis: No. 7 AASU 5, No. 15 USC Upstate 4 (Semifinals)

SUMTER, S.C. – The No. 7-ranked Armstrong Atlantic men's tennis team edged USC Upstate, 5-4, on Friday to advance to the Peach Belt Conference Championship match for the second straight season.

The Pirates (15-6) picked up two of three doubles matches, then got singles wins at the bottom three flights to take the win, 5-4. Robert Jendelund defeated Sandy Franz, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), at No. 4 singles, while David Secker defeated Leandro Osorio, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4, at No. 5 singles. Kevin Sijmons clinched the match with his 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4 win over Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso at No. 6 singles.

The defending PBC tournament champions now face Lander at Noon on Saturday for the PBC Tournament title. The two teams were scheduled to play last
Saturday in the regular season, but their match was rained out.
