2007 Mid-Atlantic Regional: No. 25 Augusta State 5, No. 19 USC Aiken 3

SAVANNAH, Ga. – No. 25-ranked Augusta State won its first NCAA men's tennis postseason match since 1997 with a 5-3 win over No. 19-ranked USC Aiken at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Thursday afternoon in Savannah.

The Jaguars (17-6) took a leg up on the Pacers by winning two of three doubles matches. Lindy Blount and Frederico Mendes defeated Pierre Negri and Wyatt Boylston, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, then Sergi Mullor and Arthur Figueiro defeated Bruno Seves and Christopher Kaetz, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.

Augusta State then captured the match with three straight-set wins in singles, clinched by Victor Meza's 6-0, 6-3 win over Edward Horne at No. 4 singles. Sergi Mullor and Arthur Figueiro also picked up singles wins for the Jaguars, while the Pacers (17-7) got singles wins from Dagoberto Darezzo and Pierre Negri.

The Jaguars now advance to face host Armstrong Atlantic State in the Mid-Atlantic Region championship match at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
