SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic men's tennis team advanced to the NCAA's Round of 16 with a 5-0 win over No. 25-ranked Augusta State on Friday afternoon at the AASU Tennis Complex.

Playing against a short-handed Jaguar squad that lost the services of Igor Vasconcellos after yesterday's win over USC Aiken, the Pirates blitzed through the three doubles matches, giving up just four games total in taking a 3-0 win.

In singles, Henrik Lilja picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Guilherme Ferraz at No. 6 singles, then Savannah native Taavo Roos - the only senior on the Pirates' squad this season - clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Frederico Mendes in his final home match of his four-year career.

The Pirates will now advance to the NCAA DII Men's Tennis Round of 16, to take place in Altamonte Springs on May 9-12 at Sanlando Park. AASU's first-round opponent will be Mercy out of the East Region on Wednesday, May 9.
