Pirates Sweep PBAC Volleyball Awards

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Peach Belt Athletic Conference today announced the 1999 All-PBAC Volleyball team. The team was announced at the Peach Belt Athletic Conference volleyball awards banquet held on the campus of Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., site of the 1999 PBAC Volleyball Tournament.

Kris Bringewatt of Armstrong Atlantic State University was voted "Player of the Year" and Lindsay Ehlers of Armstrong Atlantic State University was named "Freshman of the Year." Armstrong Atlantic State University head coach Alan Segal was named "Coach of the Year." The award winners were determined by a vote of the league's eight volleyball coaches.

Bringewatt and Ehlers were named to the All-Conference team, as well as juniors Micah Roman and Colleen Fitzsimmons. The Pirates, who finished the regular season with a 34-4 record and an 11-3 mark in the Peach Belt, were the only team to place four members on the All-Conference team. Bringewatt is the first AASU player to win "Player of the Year" honors, while Ehlers and Segal are the second winners of "Freshman of the Year" and "Coach of the Year" honors for the Pirates.

AASU plays against USC Aiken on Friday at 2 p.m. in first-round action at the Peach Belt Athletic Conference tournament.
