AASU Baseball Picked Third In PBAC Preseason Poll
SAVANNAH, Ga. The Armstrong Atlantic State baseball team has been picked to tie for third in the 2000 Peach Belt standings, according to a poll of PBAC head coaches.
The Pirates received 73 points, the same as Columbus State, and are picked to finish behind Kennesaw State and North Florida. All four teams are ranked in the NCAA Division II's Top 20 Preseason Rankings for 2000.
Georgia College & State was picked to finish fifth, followed by Lander and USC Aiken. Augusta State and Francis Marion were tied for eighth, then USC Spartanburg and finally UNC Pembroke.
AASU finished fourth in last year's PBAC standings with an 19-9 conference record. Overall the Pirates finished ranked No. 10 in the country with a 42-14 record.
The Pirates open their season this Saturday as they host St. Andrews College in a 11:00 a.m. doubleheader at Pirate Field.
