AASU's Bahr Named PBC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
SAVANNAH, Ga. (October 30) Freshman Kelli Bahr has been named the Peach Belt Conference women's soccer defensive Player of the Week, announced by league officials on Tuesday afternoon.
Bahr held Lander’s leading scorer, Jannica Finnberg, without a shot in AASU’s 6-0 win over the Bearcats on Saturday, clinching the No. 2 seed for the Pirates in the upcoming PBC Championships. The freshman delivered her second goal of the season on her only shot of the game and also assisted on a goal.
Bahr also helped the Pirates record their 10th shutout of the regular season, a new team record, and is key part in the league's third-best scoring defense which allows 0.94 goals per game.
The defensive Player of the Week honor is the first this season for Bahr and the second for an AASU player - Alyssa Anderson was the league's defensive Player of the Week back on September 11.
AASU advanced to the PBC Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 overtime win over North Georgia today. The semifinals take place on Friday, November 2, at a site TBD.
