AASU Baseball Picked Fifth In 2001 PBC Preseason Poll
SAVANNAH, Ga. The Armstrong Atlantic State baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2000 Peach Belt standings, according to a poll of PBC head coaches.
The Pirates received 58 points and are picked to finish behind North Florida (98), Georgia College & State (91), Kennesaw State (80) and Columbus State (76). All five teams are ranked in the NCAA Division II's Top 20 Preseason Rankings for 2001.
USC Aiken was picked to finish sixth with 50 points, followed by Lander (45), Francis Marion (42), Augusta State (31), USC Spartanburg (22) and UNC Pembroke (12).
AASU finished tied for sixth in last season's standings with a 15-15 Peach Belt conference record and a 37-17 overall record.
The Pirates open their season this Saturday as they host St. Andrews College in a 11:00 a.m. doubleheader at Pirate Field.
