Iuliia Stupak Named PBC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
SAVANNAH, Ga. (February 19) Senior Iuliia Stupak was named the Peach Belt Conference's women's tennis Player of the Week for the second straight week on Tuesday, announced by conference officials.The PBC's Player of the Year dropped just seven points in two singles and doubles wins over league opponents this week, extending her consecutive dual match win streak to 41 in singles.
Stupak defeated No. 30 Agata Polcyn of No. 13 Columbus State, 6-2, 6-0, on Friday and knocked off USC Aiken's Kristin Hunter, 6-0, 6-2, on Tuesday. In doubles, teamed with Gabriella Kovacs to defeat Hunter and Angel of USC Aiken, 8-1, and Polcyn and Groenewald of CSU, 8-2. The wins helped the No. 2-ranked Lady Pirates extend their regular season match winning streak to 96, dating back to 2003..
This is the fifth time that Stupak has earned PBC Player of the Week honors in her career. Stupak and the Pirates are next in action on Saturday, February 23, hosting No. 4-ranked Lynn at 10:00 a.m.
