AASU's Mainnemarre Named PBC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
SAVANNAH, Ga. Senior center Cyrille Mainnemarre was named the Peach Belt Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Mainnemarre averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and hit 54.8 percent of his shots from the floor in helping the Pirates to two wins on the week and tie a school record with their 11th consecutive win. A 6-10 junior from Aix-en-Provence, France, Mainnemarre collected a season-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor in the Pirates' 66-64 win over North Florida on Wednesday, then scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 from the floor in AASU's 65-57 win at Columbus State on Saturday.
The honor is the first for Mainnemarre and the second for an AASU player this season. Senior Robert Campbell was the conference's player of the week on Jan. 8. Mainnemarre current ranks second on the team in scoring and 19th in the Peach Belt Conference, averaging 11.3 points per game. He also ranks among the conference leaders in field-goal percentage (54.4 percent, 8th), rebounding (5.0 rpg, 20th) and blocked shots (1.30, 7th).
The Pirates next host Georgia College & State tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Alumni Arena.
