AASU In Second Place Of PBC Commissioner's Cup Standings

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Sparked by the men's basketball team's Peach Belt Conference championship this season, Armstrong Atlantic State is in second place of the current PBC Commissioner's Cup All-Sports standings, released by the conference office today.

The Pirates have accumulated 33.5 of a possible 44 points, or 76.1 percent, to rank second behind the University of North Florida, the 1999-2000 Commissioner's Cup champions. UNF has earned 52.5 points of a possible 67, or 78.4 percent. Kennesaw State is in third place at 71.1 percent while Columbus State is in fourth place at 67.8 percent.

AASU received 12 points for its PBC champion Men's Basketball team and 4.5 points for its eighth-place women's basketball finish to move up to second place from third place after the fall sports standings. The 2000-2001 Commissioner's Cup will be awarded after places in five spring sports are tabulated – baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's golf.

The Pirates have never finished higher than third since the Commissioner's Cup began to be awarded and finished third last season.
