Kaneetha Gordon Named PBC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 2) – Senior Kaneetha Gordon has been named the final Peach Belt Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the 2007-08 season, announced today by league officials.

Gordon averaged 21.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game as the Pirates split games against PBC Co-Champions Francis Marion and Lander. She notched a career-high 29 points to go with 17 rebounds in AASU's 78-65 upset of No. 23 Francis Marion on Wednesday, then added her 42nd career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds at Lander on Saturday.

Gordon currently ranks 8th in the PBC in scoring and second in rebounding as her Lady Pirates will head into this week's league tournament as the No. 7 seed, despite finishing just two games out of the conference lead. She also goes into the tournament needing just 25 points to set the all-time school mark for total points.

This is the fourth PBC Player of the Week honoree for Gordon in her career and the second this season - she was previously the PBC's Player of the week on December 3.

Gordon and the Lady Pirates face No. 10 seed UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m. in the first game of the 2008 Peach Belt Conference Basketball Championships in Aiken, S.C.
