Harriman, Sells Earn PBC Weekly Baseball, Softball Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Seniors David Harriman and Annie Sells picked up weekly Peach Belt Conference baseball and softball honors, respectively, on Tuesday afternoon from the conference office as Harriman was named the Player of the Week and Sells was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Harriman hit .530 with three home runs and 11 RBI, slugging 1.160, as AASU went 5-1 with two wins over Division I schools. His 10th-inning home run defeated Connecticut, 9-8, on Feb. 22, and his seventh-inning three-run shot forced extra innings in the Pirates' 7-6 win over Georgia in 11 innings on Feb. 24. Harriman, who has collected at least one hit in all 21 games so far this season for the No. 6-ranked Pirates, earned the award for the third time in his AASU career.

Sells pitched two two-hit shutouts as the No. 13-ranked Pirates opened the season with a perfect 3-0 record. The PBC's career leader in strikeouts, Sells punched out 21 batters in picking up shutout victories over Northwood and Nova Southeastern, and also drove in the game-winning run against Nova Southeastern on Friday. A three-time All-PBC and All-Region pitcher, Sells has now been honored as the conference's Pitcher of the Week six times in her career.

The AASU baseball squad next takes the field on Wednesday, March 6 against Gannon at 2:00 p.m. at Pirate Field. AASU's softball squad is next in action from Friday, March 8 through Sunday, March 10 at the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, S.C.
