Tim Johannsen Named PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. (February 26) – Freshman Tim Johannsen was named the Peach Belt Conference's men's tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, announced by conference officials.

Johannsen helped the No. 4-ranked Pirates to a huge 8-1 win over defending DII national champion and top-ranked Lynn on Saturday with two key wins. He knocked off No. 9-ranked Julien Carsuzza, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4, at No. 1 singles for his first win over a top 10-ranked opponent this season, then teamed with Rafael Array to knock off the No. 9-ranked doubles duo of Carsuzaa and Cava, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles.

The Pirates are unbeaten on the season at 8-0 and Johannsen is 6-2 in singles play.

Johannsen is the first AASU men's player to earn Player of the Week honors this season. The Pirates are next in action on Wednesday as they host GCSU in a Peach Belt Conference dual match at 2:00 p.m.
