Rafael Array Named PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 18) – Freshman Rafael Array was named the Peach Belt Conference's men's tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, announced by conference officials.

Array led the top-ranked Pirates to a 4-0 week by going 4-0 in singles and 3-1 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 18-ranked singles player in the nation clinched AASU's 5-4 win over No. 3 (NAIA) Embry-Riddle with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Jan Hoekzema. Array also defeated No. 5 Drury's Federico Levi, 6-4, 6-2, and blanked No. 28 Kutztown's Robert Zerwick, 6-0, 6-0, while defeating North Georgia's Grant Partrick, 6-1, 6-1.

Array also teamed with Tim Johannsen to defeat the doubles teams from No. 5 Drury, No. 28 Kutztown and North Georgia.

Array is the third AASU men's player to earn Player of the Week honors this season, joining Johannsen (Feb. 26) and Christian Bergh (March 3). The Pirates are next in action on March 27-29 at the Small College Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
