Three AASU Spring Sports Teams In Top 10 Nationally In Latest Rankings

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The AASU softball team climbed to No. 7 in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 rankings , released today, while the AASU men's (No. 4) and women's (No. 8) tennis teams also climbed in the latest WingspanBank.com/ITA Division II rankings, released yesterday.

The Pirate softball team, in the midst of a 12-game winning streak, is 19-3 and went 4-0 at the 2001 KSU Owl Invitational over the weekend, knocking off two ranked teams. AASU is second among PBC teams in the rankings, behind No. 3 Columbus State, but ahead of No. 8 Kennesaw State and No. 16 North Florida.

The AASU men's tennis team (10-2) jumped two spots from No. 6 to No. 4 in the latest ITA rankings and trail only Drury, Valdosta State and BYU-Hawaii in the national rankings. The AASU women's tennis team (11-3) jumped from No. 15 to No. 8 in the latest rankings.

Both AASU tennis teams are in action today at the University of North Florida at 2:00 p.m., while the softball team returns to action on Saturday, March 31 at Augusta State for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader.
