AASU Holds A Pair Of Threes – Softball, Men's Tennis Ranked Third In Nation

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Two of Armstrong Atlantic State's spring athletic teams are ranked No. 3 in the nation in rankings released this week. The AASU softball team, fresh off of a doubleheader sweep of then-No. 2 Kennesaw State on Sunday, is now ranked No. 3 in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll, while the AASU men's tennis team, getting set to host the PBAC Championships this week, is ranked No. 3 according to the ITA/NCAA Division II Men's Tennis rankings.

The Pirate softball team returns to the No. 3 ranking it held in the March 15 poll after going 3-1 against ranked competition last week, including a 1-0 and 8-5 sweep of KSU. AASU is 39-4 and leads the Peach Belt with a 13-1conference mark. This weekend, the Pirates will travel to No. 2 North Florida for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m.

The AASU men's tennis team jumped one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 in the latest ITA rankings by virtue of its wins over former No. 1 Lander University and previous No. 5 Valdosta State in back-to-back matches on April 1st and 2nd. The Pirates, 16-5 overall, will host the PBAC Championships as the top seed beginning on Thursday, April 13 at the AASU Tennis Complex. AASU looks to snap Lander's eight-year reign as conference champions.

The AASU women's tennis team fell one spot in the ITA rankings to No. 6. The Lady Pirates, also the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PBAC championships, are 12-5 on the season.
