AASU's Mueller Advances At Rolex National Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Junior Maren Mueller defeated Presbyterian's Rachel Key, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round of the 1999 Rolex National Small College Tennis Championships in Memphis, Tenn., on Thursday morning.

Mueller, the No. 2 seed in the eight-person field, will next face Tania Kovatchka of West Florida in the semifinals at 8:30 a.m. CST on Friday. Kovatchka defeated Layla Turner of Eastern New Mexico, 0-6, 6-2, 7-5.

The championship match of the Division II bracket of the championships will be on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with the winner advancing to the Super Bowl later that day. The Super Bowl pits the winners of the NCAA Division II, Division III, NJCAA and NAIA brackets to determine the 1999 Rolex Small College Tennis Singles champion.
