SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State softball team split two games at the AASU/Lenoir-Rhyne/Anderson crossover on Sunday. The No. 14-ranked Pirates got RBI singles from Lindsay Phillips and Amanda Kort to snap a 1-all tie in a 3-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, while Anderson hurler Ashley Rogers hurled a three-hit shutout to blank AASU 3-0.

AASU (7-1) gave up an unearned run in the top of the first inning against All-America hurler Katya Eronina (4-0), but came back in the bottom of the fifth as All-America Stacey Richardson launched a solo home run off of Alexis Kreske to tie the game at 1-all. Jenny Alfirov led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk, moved to second on an error, then scored on a single by Phillips. Kort drove in Mandi Meador with an RBI single to make the score 3-1. Eronina gave up just three hits and one unearned run while striking out eight in seven innings pitched.

In the Pirates’ second game, Anderson hurler Ashley Rogers no-hit the Pirates through the first five innings and three-hit AASU, shutting out the Pirates. The Trojans got three runs in the top of the second inning off of AASU freshman starter Adrian Tuttle (0-1) with an RBI double by Shelly Sawyer, an RBI single by Lauren Cooley and an RBI single by Ana Rogers.

In the third game of the crossover, Lenoir-Rhyne (2-2) defeated Anderson College (3-9) by a score of 7-0.

AASU returns to action on Sunday, February 29, as the Pirates host UNC Pembroke in PBC action at 1:00 p.m.
