FLORENCE, S.C. – The Armstrong Atlantic State softball squad wrapped up action in the 2007 FMU Patriot Invitational with three wins on Saturday, improving to 14-5 on the season.
The Pirates picked up a 3-0 win over Coker in Saturday's first game. Jessica Waters hurled a complete-game shutout, giving up just three hits while striking out three. Vanessa Becerra and Nicole Huddleston each clubbed solo home runs for the Pirates.
AASU then picked up a 12-1 win over Belmont Abbey in five innings as Becerra slammed a three-run home run in support of Pam Bykowski, who picked up the win by hurling five innings and striking out four. The Pirates wrapped up action with a 11-0 win over Chowan in five innings. Ashley Bain and Jessica Strong each added home runs and Courtney Tucker picked up the victory, giving up just three hits and striking out three.
The Pirates return to action on Tuesday, March 13, with a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Presbyterian at the AASU Softball Field.
