Annie Sells Earns Second Consecutive PBC Pitcher Of The Week Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior righthander Annie Sells was named the Peach Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon by conference officials for her back-to-back no-hitters at the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, S.C.

Sells, a senior from Chattanooga, Tenn., blanked No. 20-ranked Coker on Friday, March 8, 2-0, tying a career high and her Peach Belt Conference record with 16 strikeouts against the Cobras. The PBC's career leader in strikeouts then hurled a five-inning no-hitter over Catawba, 11-1, on Saturday, March 9, striking out seven batters. On the week, Sells finished with a 2-1 record and a 1.47 ERA, giving up just four hits in 19 innings while striking out 34 of the 65 batters she faced.

Also a deadly hitter for the Pirates, Sells hit .471 on the week with five RBI to help the No. 13-ranked Pirates go 4-1 in the tournament. For Sells, it is her second consecutive PBC Pitcher of the Week honor and her seventh all-time during her Pirate career.

The No. 13-ranked Lady Pirates return to the field on Tuesday, March 12 as they host Edinboro in their season opener at 1:00 p.m. at Pirate Field.
