AUGUSTA, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic State used two home runs from Stacey Richardson in games one and two to propel the Pirates to an afternoon swept of Augusta State, 2-0 and 7-4 in 10 innings. With the wins the Pirates move to 15-2 overall, 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference while the Jags fall to 10-7- 0-2 in Conference.
Game ones fast pace featured the first 15 batters to all be retired in order. Richardson would supply all the Pirates scoring in the sixth inning, as she launched a two-run home run to right field off of Jaguars starter Ashleigh Mast to account for the only runs of the game.
ASU never advance a baserunner past second as Katya Eronina went the distance for AASU allowing only one hit over seven innings of work. Game two saw a different start, as the Jaguars jumped on the board first. In the bottom of the second inning with the Jaguars already leading 1-0, Melissa Botelho smashed a two-run double into left centerfield scoring Kristi Davis and Pam Vinson, extending the ASU lead to 3-0. The lead held until the sixth inning as Richardson again stung the Jags, this time depositing a three-run bomb over the right field fence to tie the game at 3-3.
The game extended into the tenth inning where Armstrong Atlantic State exploded for four runs as Richardson drove in the winning run with an RBI double, scoring second baseman Stacy Oliver. Centerfielder Lindsay Phillips and first baseman Amanda Kort added insurance as Phillips two-run double and Korts RBI single extended the Pirate lead to 7-3. AASU pitcher Delaney Warrian went all ten innings for the complete game victory.
The Jaguars next game is Saturday, March 15, as they host Francis Marion at 2:00 p.m. AASU will be next in action at the 2003 Ft. Myers Invitational in Ft. Myers, Fla.
