College Softball: No. 15 Armstrong Atlantic State 4-2, Hawaii Hilo 0-1

HILO, Hawaii – In a day when the University of Hawaii at Hilo pitching gave up only nine hits, they stranded 10 runners in scoring position in dropping a doubleheader to 15th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University, 4-0 and 2-1.

Kristine Kahoalii (6-4) gave up six hits in game one while striking out three. Taysha Anderson (3-3) tossed a three-hitter in the second game and struck out eight with giving up a walk.

Following a score on a fielding error, Breon Michel's two-run single gave the Pirates (12-3) a 3-0 lead in the first. Crystal McCracken's single added a run in the fifth. Sara Noe and McCracken had two hits a piece for the Pirates.Trisha Holley and Abby Padasdao paired hits for the Vulcans.

Nicole Weirauch's run scoring double broke a 1-1 deadlock in the final inning of game two. With Isa Tillery on second, Weirauch lifted a pitch to the fence for the game winner. The Pirates scored a run on Michel's second-inning double.

The Vulcans (12-10) tied the game on Leinani Hashida's third-inning single. Nancy Vega doubled to open the inning and scored on the hit. Vega was 2-for-3 in the game.
