College Softball: No. 6 AASU 2-8, St. Andrews 1-0

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 6-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State softball squad swept a doubleheader from St. Andrews, 2-1 and 8-0, on Sunday afternoon at Pirate Field to run its winning streak to 10 games.

Senior righthander Annie Sells, the Peach Belt Conference's reigning two-time Pitcher of the Week, hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Pirates the 2-1 win in game one, while pitching the complete-game victory, striking out nine hitters to improve to 9-1 on the season.

In the second game, the Pirates (17-1) collected nine hits, led by Stacy Oliver's 3-for-4 day, to defeat the Knights (6-18), 8-0, in five innings. Freshman Katy Perkins improved to 5-0 on the season with the shutout victory, giving up just hree hits while striking out five.

The Lady Pirates return to action on Thursday, March 21 as they host Barton College at 1:00 p.m. at Pirate Field.
